The Barton Bear Statue Restoration Project is an EAST project. THRIVE partenered up with Barton Lexa School District to help to restore the bear statue that was dedicated to Frank McClellan, a major coach in Arkansas history. The project involves planning, priming, and painting the bear. Before we started the project, the bear was in very bad condition; the teeth had previously been broken out, and the paint was coming off in many places. Our hope is that we will restore the Barton bear statue to its former beauty. In the process of this project, the nine students will learn about working in a group and teamwork.
